The procedure begins with cleaning the area and numbing the skin and both vas deferens (the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles to the prostate).
Next, a small incision is made in the center of the scrotum to access the vas deferens. Each tube is then cut using electrical cautery, and the inside of the tube closest to the testicle is burned slightly so it closes and prevents sperm from passing through. The two ends of each cut tube are separated by surrounding tissue to prevent them from reconnecting accidentally.
Each side is done one at a time, and the entire procedure usually takes about 30 minutes.
The vasectomy is performed in one of the clinic’s medical offices, with the doctor always assisted by a nurse.
It is strongly recommended to have someone accompany you on the day of the procedure.
It is best to shave the scrotum the day before the procedure.

The initial consultation is a short meeting of about 15 minutes. During this visit, the procedure and possible complications are explained, and your questions are answered. It also includes a physical exam of the scrotum to check the length of the vas deferens and to look for any anatomical features that could affect the vasectomy.
The vasectomy appointment lasts about 30 minutes. The procedure is performed in one of the Clinique des Sommets offices, with the doctor assisted by a nurse.
It is strongly recommended that you have someone accompany you for the appointment.

A semen analysis should be done three months after the vasectomy to confirm that the procedure was successful and that sterility has been achieved.
You must wait for the results of this test before stopping any other form of contraception.
The sample can be collected at different hospitals, depending on where you live.
